WELCA

——————–Circle News ——————

We would like to invite all women to attend one of our Bible study groups. There are two which

meet during the day and one in the evening. We are studying Paul’s Letters to the Romans

from “Lutheran Woman Today” magazine. Copies of the study will be available. A schedule of

group meetings is listed below in this article under our November Calendar, Also, be sure to

pick up the latest 2009-2010 Women’s Handbook; you will find it in your file folder in the narthex.

On Tuesday, January 12 at 7:00pm the Women of the ELCA will host a discussion on the

book, The Shack by William P. Young. If you haven’t already read the book, put it on your

Christmas list and get it read by Jan. 12. It is a quick read and quite thought provoking. We will

also be assembling health kits for LWR so check your WELCA book and start collecting the

items listed on page 4.

Our outreach for September, October, and November is HAAM. We are collecting women’s

hygiene products, toothpaste, brushes, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, razors, non-perishable

food items; and monetary contributions are always welcome.

“Joy in the Jungle,” a Christ- centered women’s conference, will be held on October 2-4, Lamb of God Lutheran Church, Humble, Texas, 281-446-8427. It will feature passionate praise and worship, dynamic speakers, dramatic presentations, and fun and fellowship. For more information, call Kim Hanus.

A huge thank you to everyone who contributed money and school supplies. We are part of the community that enabled HAAM to equip approximately 2,200 needy students with tools for learning in the new school year.

Again a reminder that we continue to collect feminine hygiene products, toothpaste and brushes, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, razors, and non-perishable food for HAAM. Please leave them in the chest in the side hall or the shopping cart in Luther Hall.

New Officers for the upcoming year were elected:  President, Kim Hanus; Vice President, Gayle Morgan; Secretary, Marlene Kopta; Treasurer, Cathie Tanner; Program Chair, Linda Petterson; Membership, Karen Stevens; WELCA Concerns, Linda Stambaugh.  Congratulations to these ladies who will be leading our Women’s group in the coming year.
