BEYOND TODAY: Planning with the End in Mind

On Sat., April 18, 2009, Holy Comforter Lutheran Church, 1901 Woodland Hills Dr., Kingwood, TX, will be hosting a workshop on preparing for end of life issues. Whether for you, your spouse, your parent or the unexpected, join us for this informative workshop answering the questions we have nearing and at the end of life.

11:30 – 12:15 pm Lunch and Resource time

A light lunch will be served. There will be resource tables in the narthex. There is no charge for this workshop, but a free will offering will be taken during lunch.

“My Legacy Matters: Living and Planning a Meaningful Legacy” – A workshop to help people recognize what they stand for today and plan for having their wishes carried out after they’re gone. Exercises touch on legacy elements, such as family, values, beliefs, finances, relationships and intentions. Presented by Jonathan Hoyme of Thrivent Financial.

“Long Term Care Insurance” – What is long term care insurance and who needs it? Presented by Warren Holmes of Thrivent Financial.

“Documents” – Information on documents such as Will, Living Wills, Power of Attorney, POA for Healthcare, DNR, etc. Presented by Currin, Wuest, Mielke, Paul & Knapp, PLLC

“Planning Ahead for all the Right Reasons” – Funeral planning. Presented by Pam Dickson of Kingwood Funeral Home.

“Funeral Service Planning” – Funeral or memorial service planning in the Lutheran tradition. Presented by Pastor Barbara Bartling.

“Everything You’ve Wanted to Know About Hospice” – Presented by Cheryl O’Brien from Memorial Hermann Hospice.

“Senior Housing Options” – a panel discussion with representatives from several of the local facilities. Rosemont, Eden Terrace, Silverado, Kingwood Village Estates.
