H.A.A.M. Day
Humble Area Assistance Ministries (HAAM) - H.A.A.M. Day
Recently the Wednesday First Place 4 Health class studied about a woman who was a stay-at-home mom with five children, and her husband was unemployed. She was determined to make what little they had stretch to care for her whole family. The teenage boys would bring friends home for dinner and they were always welcomed. The mother prayed that there would be enough food for everyone, and there always was! Doesn’t that remind you of the feeding of the five thousand? Or maybe reminiscent of the way the early Christians lived – sharing everything with each other? One of our discussion questions was “When has God moved you to give food to someone who needed it?” It was suggested, and unanimously agreed, that we should, on a regular monthly basis, give food to those in need. We are all very blessed and by being God’s hands here on earth we can help see that those that are hungry are fed. So we are announcing that the second Sunday of each month will become HAAM Day. Everyone is encouraged to share from your bounty by offering non-perishable food items. (Toiletries and paper products are also needed.) A basket for collecting the food will be in the narthex. So starting March 13th don’t forget to bring your food items with you when you come to worship that day.
