“Find balance in your daily life” and join us for this 6 week series called “Get a Grip”. In small groups, as part of the church body, we’ll connect, share, study, provide love, support, friendship & spiritual strength and build Christian relationships in a safe place.
During this series, we will learn to carry out—and find balance for God’s five purposes for our lives:
Fellowship - Providing opportunities to get to know members of the Holy Comforter Lutheran Church family and providing care for one another.
Discipleship – Growing together in faith and obedience to God through the study of the Bible and prayer.
Evangelism – Praying that God will send others to be a part of the Small Group and inviting others in faith.
Ministry – Serving others through acts of love and mercy in and through ministries of the Holy Comforter Lutheran Church family
Worship – Inviting the presence of God by worshipping together in Small Groups & encouraging worship with the entire Holy Comforter Lutheran Church family on Sundays.

11 Youth and Adults traveled to Luther Hill for an Jr. & Sr. High Advent Retreat. This was a lovely time of the year to attend Luther Hill, for the camp in La Grange is very quiet and off of the beaten path. The youth focused on the light of the Advent Season, and how Jesus is our light who came to take away the sins of the world. In their free time they got to climb the rock wall, zip down the zip line, canoe, play archery, do arts and crafts, and spend time with 200 teens their age. This was a fun weekend for all, and we look forward to our next Luther Hill Camping Experience this summer at Confirmation Camp.

Local Lutherans Put “Hands and Feet On Their Faith” To Help in Recovery Effort
Over 50 volunteers gathered in Galveston over the weekend to help the island in recovery efforts following Hurricane Ike. Lutheran Disaster Response, a volunteer effort organized by the Texas-Louisiana Gulf Coast Synod, included several members from Kingwood’s Holy Comforter Lutheran Church, as well as other churches from around the region. The group helped in a variety of efforts, from sorting clothing that will go to hurricane victims to mucking out houses damaged by the storm. Bernard Scroggins and several others with the disaster response team helped coordinate the effort. Their goal: Bringing Help and Hope to those that need it most. Read the rest of this entry »

Reformation Sunday October 26th, 2008 will be remembered as a day in Holy Comforter Lutheran Church (HCLC) history. Not only did the church celebrate one of the holiest days of the Lutheran church year, the church also celebrated its 40th anniversary. The day began with two beautiful services, led by Pastor Barbara Bartling. Both services included all of the church’s choirs, the Gloria Dei Choir and Voices of Praise, the hand-bell groups, Bells of Praise and the Glory Ringers. The second service was standing-room only. Kingwood church congregation commemorates 40 year anniversary by: Robert Kleeman
Community members will mark milestone with late October fiesta

The Holy Comforter Lutheran Church began in a trailer 40 years ago.
That’s where the congregation first convened in 1968. Members met at the trailer and sometimes at their houses for weekly worship. The now 550-member Kingwood church, the first in the area, will celebrate its mile marker anniversary with an Oct. 26 party.
Church volunteer Dawna Kaleda said she first attended Holy Comforter in 1971 with her mother, a year before the church’s permanent campus broke ground. Less than 50 people attended services then, she said.
Pastor Barb Bartling said she views the church as a place to find purpose. MORE>
