The Rev. Barbara L. Bartling

During the Spring of 2003, the call committee recommended issuing a call to the Reverend Barbara L. Bartling who at the time was serving as associate pastor at Living Word Lutheran Church in Katy, Texas.  The Congregation approved the issuing of the call which Pastor Barb accepted, and she began her ministry on September 14, 2003.  Pastor Barb is only the third Snior Pastor of Holy Comforter.

Pastor Barb received her Bachelor of Arts from Texas Lutheran College, Seguin, Texas and her Masters of Divinity from Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Columbus, Ohio.  Her internship year was served at Our Saviour”s, College Station, Texas.  Prior to serving as associate pastor at Living Word, Katy, Pastor Barb’s first call as an ordained minister in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America was as Associate Pastor at House of Prayer, Houston, Texas.

September 14, 2003 was the beginning of a new era for Holy Comforter as we welcomed our new Pastor – Pastor Barbara L. Bartling. May the Holy Spirit be with her and the congregation as she continues her ministry here. We ask God’s blessing of strength, energy, and wisdom for all of us.

Today Pastor Barb, also lovingly referred to as “PB”, continues to bring strong leadership and vision to the growth and spiritual development of HCLC. October 26th, 2008, at HCLC’s 40th Anniversary Celebration, Pastor Barb was presented with a Mayoral and Judicial Proclamation that this day would officially be known as Holy Comforter Lutheran Church & School day in Houston, Texas and Harris County, Texas.
