  • Tuesdays at 9:00am - Chris Ray is holding “Faithful Parenting” classes for preschool parents.  You are always welcome to join the class.
  • Worship, Word, Witness on Wednesdays - This is a time for every member of the family to have music, bible study, fellowship & service. OUR FINAL SESSION of this school year is Wednesday, May 23.  Come for Dinner and Fellowship beginning at 6:00 p.m. WOW is for everyone!!!  We’ll resume again after the summer.  Click here for schedule & details. Click here to register online!!!  Everyone is welcome.
  • Registration for HCLC Summer Camp 2012 is NOW OPEN. Click here for more information.
  • The handmade ceramic crosses in the narthex are available for a donation of $10 for the small or $15 for the larger.  These crosses are made by the residents of The Village Learning and Achievement Center, a non-profit organization for developmentally disabled adults.  For more information speak with Ruby Wallinger or Michele Dykstra.
  • —- Sandwich Sunday - The first Sunday of every month, a ministry which provides sandwiches and lunch items to Star of Hope to feed the homeless in Houston. Click here for more info or contact Melissa or Christy.
    • The first Friday of the month is Gathering Place. This ministry is free of charge and is available to the entire Kingwood/Humble area. Interfaith CarePartners works in partnership with Holy Comforter to provide The Gathering Place provides fun, fellowship, food, etc. for our care partners who have mild to moderate disabilities such as dementia, stroke, Parkinson’s & Alzheimer’s. Contact Pam or Beth for more info.
    • The Second Sunday of the Month we collect non-perishable food to be donated to Humble Area Assistance Ministries (HAAM) to help those who may be hungry.  Please put your food items in the trunk in the narthex.

Saturday, May 12, – Primetimers Event :  dinner at Casa Ole Restaurant, followed by a performance at Theater Suburbia, “First Baptist of Ivy Gap”, a comedy by Don Osbourne.  The Precinct 4 bus will depart the church at 5:30pm.  Please sign up in the narthex so we can finalize our reservations.  If you have questions, see Frank Kopta.

Sat. May 12 – Synod Assembly Saturday Visitors – Opportunity for ALL who are interested in worship. Theme: Worship in the World: Some Assembly Required. Workshops on a wide variety of topics, from music to hospitality to lay worship leadership tips and tricks and much more. Lakewood United Methodist Church, 11330 Louetta Road, Houston, TX 77070. The Second Sunday of the month is Humble Area Assistance Ministries is H.A.A.M. Day. Everyone is encouraged to share from your bounty by offering non-perishable food items. Click here for more information.

May 14th – Media Sale – It is that time of year again—The Media Sale is scheduled for May 14—June 4, so we are in immediate need of your donations of books, videos, board games, and puzzles.  Just drop off your donation in Wartburg A.

  • We congratulate our Preschool 4 year-old graduates:  Natalie Aasen, Ella Aguilar, Gabriella Baker, David Beck, Vince Benavides, Antonio Brizuela, Drake Butanda, Haley Collier, Luke Cummings, Ellie Coronado, Cohen Cox, Jonas Dark, Kamryn Dolmage, Arianna Dupuis, Noah Elias, Cade Ellis, Alex Gonzales, Olivia Green, Greyson Green, Connor Grubert, Julianna Harriman, Evan Hays, Katelynn Hinson, Summer Ice, Annemarie Johnson, Brianna Le, Hudson Leslie, Aidan Lewis, Emerald Millar, Andrew Moffitt, Lucouw Oosthuizen, Daisye Prater, Kylee Reynolds, Sara Roberts, Andrew Ryan, Alexa Taylor,  Bryce Tillett, Madelyn Waters.And a special “thank you” to their teachers who have so ably instructed them during the past year:Lori Snyder, Lisa Hummell, Lynn Santilena, Carrie Mullholland, Cheri Story, and Yolanda McPheeters.

    Also, we can’t forget Colleen Engel, Director of our early Childhood Education Program. “Job well done” to all.

  • Thanks to all who gave “the Gift of Life” at our Blood Drive last Sunday.
  • We rejoiced with Michael Kell, Emma Prater and Noah Wiedrich as they received their First Communion last Sunday. God’s blessings of each one and their families!!!!
  • March of Remembrance March, Memorial Service and Holocaust Survivor Stories was a great success.  The March was held all over the country, including  Kingwood beginning at the Kingwood United Methodist Church at 1:00pm and concluding at the old St. Martha’s Catholic Church campus with a worship service at 3:00pm. Believing that “None of us is free until all of us are free,” thanks to everyone who came out to sing, cheer on and pray with their feet for the walk down Woodland Hills Drive. Thanks to Dawna and Sheryl for heading up the event for HCLC.
  • What a glorious Easter Day !  A special thank you to all the musicians who shared their beautiful music to add so much praise to our services.  “Hats off” to all who prepared and served the delicious breakfast.  It was a very special day in our church life.
  • Elementary Lutherhill Retreat Campers Returned 3/25/12 - Thanks for your prayers for the elementary school campers retreat at Lutherhill :  Zach Kell, Armin Gonzales, Kate Mosel, Audrey Miller, Josh Bear, Michael Greco, Pierce Dietrich, Jessica Hampton and Erica Hampton were accompanied by Chris Ray, Rick & Christy Janacek and enjoyed a wonderful time celebrating and learning about the Light of Jesus!   • Thanks to Pastor Jackie Griffin, a missionary to the Central African Republic, for sharing her Ministry with us on Wednesday, March 21. What a blessing it was to have Pastor Jackie Griffin. We ask God’s blessings on those ministries in CAR.
  •  The beautiful quilts on display in the sanctuary were made by Martha Circle to be sent to Lutheran World Relief.  We commend these ladies for their efforts in spreading God’s love and comfort around the world.
  • Our Women of the ELCA have donated a total of $454.50 to Familytime, their charitable concern for December, January, and February.  $200 was budgeted from WELCA’s general fund and the remaining $254.50 was from individual donations.  They also gave items such as diapers, school supplies, etc. and four quilts from Martha Circle.
  • 2012-13 marks the 40th ANNIVERSARY of Holy Comforter Preschool!!!!!!!

  • Maundy Thursday worship at 7:00pm on April 5 will include FOOTWASHING.  Everyone who desires may have their feet washed, as a sign of the humility and servanthood of Christ.
  • Your 2012 Commitment Cards may be returned by placing in the offering plate or to the church office.  If you don’t have one, they are available in the narthex.
  • New Membership Directories are available in the narthex (one per family, please.)
  • Music Ministry always has room for more singers and ringers!  Please see the calendar, or the blue schedule in the narthex for the rehearsal schedule.  Join us!
